Who Will Purchase Twitter

Tuesday, June 16th, 2009

Rumors are circulating about companies potentially interested in purchasing Twitter, as the micro-blogging platform continues to increase in popularity. It has become common for larger companies to gauge the success of novice startups, and if they foresee profit potential that can enhance their current operations, they tend to begin the process of making offers.

There is chatter of course that large entities such as Google and Apple could have their eyes on the prize.  Google could purchase Twitter and integrate it into their technology arsenal.  This would not be a surprising move, after all Google did purchase social media sites MySpace and YouTube.   Twitter has millions of active users and is evolving daily-becoming a tool in the daily lives of many.

Apple or any other company could also snatch up the blossoming social mini-platform, and it should be interesting to see what offers roll out.  What are your thoughts on this topic?  Who, if anyone, do you feel would be the best buyer for Twitter?

Twitter Redesign to Feature Expanded Search Bar

Monday, June 15th, 2009

It hardly seems possible that Twitter has already chirped its way to the third-largest online social networking service, riding the draft winds of Facebook and Myspace, according to Compete.   The majority of Tweeters initially signed up for the service in 2008, thus giving Twitter an impressive online traffic increase of almost 1000 percent in its first year. I assume a thank-you Oprah is in order…along with other high profile and celebrity tweetsters.

More recently, there has been increasing chatter in the cyber-sphere about Twitter attracting a growing number of users, possibly positioning it to potentially …compete with Google?  Surely, that is impossible?  Well, Twitter does already feature a search function, search.twitter, and some feel that could allow the social networking sensation to compete with larger search engines someday, if it strengthened its search capabilities.

And to thicken the plot, recently announced new features of Twitter include a…more powerful search function.  This will obviously be fascinating to…follow!  Sorry, couldn’t resist myself.  Relayed by Deep Blue Interactive, Fort Lauderdale web design and interactive marketing firm.

MySpace Slows Down

Monday, May 4th, 2009

There are people who use MySpace, Facebook, and those who feel compelled to use both social networking sites.  MySpace has the title of the country’s leading social networking service, yet has been slowly losing its users.

There is a recent trend showing some users gravitating to other social media networks, notably Facebook.  According to ComScore, MySpace users are younger and have lower incomes than Facebook users, so it is important to separate user demographics in order to obtain a more complete perspective on the issue.
The trend for parents, executives and career-oriented individuals to choose Facebook over MySpace is mostly due to the available features incorporated into the site that make it ideal for business connects and use.  The music industry is still connected deeply to MySpace, where nearly every band seems to have a MySpace page for fans.

Social networks are evolving and becoming a part of everyday personal and business dealings, with new features and politics keeping users interested.  It seems that the platform MySpace utilizes simply does not offer enough interactive features to satisfy a user base that is becoming accustomed to them.  Relayed by Deep Blue Interactive, SEO web design and internet marketing firm in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Tweets from your Tweeps, Twerps & Twitching

Friday, April 24th, 2009

Oprah’s first tweet increased Twitter traffic by 43%…yes…it happened (this according to Hitwise web tracker).  Twitter can thank Oprah’s tweetership for an estimated million new users joining post-broadcast.  The self-propagating social networking craze is twitching its way to the twip-top, one tweeting celeb at a time.

Twitter is a digital pulse with the ability to serve as many things to many tweeps.  Users have the capacity to choose which people and companies to follow, essentially molding their very own news reels.  The obsession over Tweeting on Twitter becomes apparent when all of the bursts, insights, advice, random musings and complaints are updated, a lot, and lobbed at users at a bamboozling pace.

Those opposed to Twitter cite an overabundance of technological tools in an already overflowing toolbox.  Torn by the tech-savvy transitions, these poor individuals are new to and intimidated by Facebook, Myspace, YouTube and perhaps found transitioning from their prehistoric desktops to laptops threatening.  For these users, I recommend tweet tools designed to minimize noise, such as TweetDeck and Nambu.  Technology continues to evolve and excite, to tweet or not to tweet, that is the question.  Relayed by Deep Blue Interactive, your Florida web design and integrated marketing solution.

Oprah Tweets

Monday, April 20th, 2009

The much-anticipated first tweet from Oprah read:  “HI TWITTERS. THANK YOU FOR A WARM WELCOME. FEELING REALLY 21st CENTURY.”  Yes, Oprah made a big screaming entrance in all caps, giving the digerati much to talk about in the way of internet etiquette, which is awesome.  It seems as though Ashton Kutcher has started a movement-in a big way.

While “twitterers” were referred to as “twitters”, Twittersphere users seem to have found it appealing, and Oprah has received a warm and rather large welcome to the social networking site, where she is pulling in 1,000 responses per minute, according to Nick Bilton of The New York Times.

Fellow twitterers are excited about the newcomer, and are giving the megastar helpful hints and tips for proper Twitter decorum.  A tweet from JephKelley read as follows: “Oprah on Twitter I’m fine with.  When Donahue joins, I’m getting the hell out of here.”

Oprah is going to be introduced quickly to the rapidly evolving online attention span.  Relayed by Deep Blue Interactive, your Fort Lauderdale web design and online branding firm.
