Cell phones have certainly evolved since the first cellular call was placed on April 3, 1973 by Martin Cooper, who is now chairman, CEO and co-founder of ArrayComm, Inc. At the time of the call, Martin Cooper was general manager of Motorola’s Communications Systems Division.
That first call was placed to Cooper’s rival at AT&T’s Bell Labs from the streets of New York City, was the beginning of the fundamental technology and communications shift away from the place and toward the person.
We may now look back fondly at the bulky predecessors of today’s sleek cell phones. It could be said that the cell phones of today are the world’s most ubiquitous computers, with smart phones becoming more advanced by the day. There are approximately four billion cell phones in use around the world right now, a large percentage of them with web access.
Essentially, cell phones have created standard of constantly evolving information technology. It is astounding to consider how even business has been affected by cell phones with web access. In the past, those with computers were the only ones performing searches for products and services. Now, potential clients are fully mobile, free to pull their smart phones from their pockets and do a Google, MSN or Yahoo search for anything that crosses their mind, instantly.
This has created a new marketing challenge for businesses. The yellow pages are simply not enough in the fast-paced mobile marketing world of today. In order to get the most clients, businesses must appear high in the search engine results-where consumers are looking first. In order to achieve high search engine placement and online visibility, it is vital to enlist the expertise of a professional interactive marketing and web design firm. Contact Deep Blue Interactive today for a free website analysis to discover how instead of searching for new clients, you can let them find you!

Google is the master of forging exclusive relationships. Google courted us with search, and eventually we began to accept our invitations to Gmail-sending invites to our friends who in turn sent them to their friends.
Now factor in the scads of us who have implemented and adore the Google calendar. The Google calendar provides scheduling capabilities at their finest, with the ability to share information inside and outside of the office. But wait, it gets better-the Google calendar and email linked up and began communicating with each other! So who wouldn’t want that incoming email about an event added to their calendar automatically? Yes please.
Then Google incorporated its instant messenger within Gmail. Right there in your inbox is your buddy list, a search box, Google Maps and any other Google tool you could possibly need to make it through your day unscathed-and easy. Did I mention you can now chat with your friends via video with your Gmail chat? Still not impressed? It works flawlessly, even between a Mac and a PC.
MapQuest was the go-to online map source-then Google Maps was born. As Google Maps provides novel features regularly, it just seems silly to use anything else. From RSS feeds to subway directions, Google is innovation and it is a part of us. Brought to you by Deep Blue Interactive, your Fort Lauderdale interactive marketing and web design firm.

Yahoo announced on Monday that its chief executive Jerry Yang would step down from that role when the company decides on a replacement. Mr. Yang is a co-founder of online mogul Yahoo and had assumed control of the company from Terry Semel approximately a year and a half ago.
In a statement, Yahoo said that Mr. Yang would return to his earlier role as “Chief Yahoo”, a corporate visionary role. Mr. Yang will remain on the Yahoo board. Yahoo said it would look for potential replacements inside and outside the company. Rumored potential candidates include Susan Decker, Yahoo’s current president; Dan Rosenweig, the former chief operating officer, and Jonathan Miller, the former chief executive of AOL.
Recent months have less than ideal for Yahoo, with Mr. Yang rejecting a $47.5 billion takeover offer from Microsoft and falling short on a proposed advertising deal with Google. The deal with Microsoft was worth $33 a share-that is over three times Yahoo’s closing price of $10.63 on Monday. After hours trading witnessed the stock rise more than 4 percent.
While Mr. Yang has been with Yahoo since the company was a mere directory of websites, many questioned his abilities to succeed as chief executive, especially upon analyzing his decisions since taking the place of Terry Semel just last year. Now that Mr. Yang is stepping down, there are surely rumors of a new round of talks with Microsoft.
Regulators squashed the proposed advertising partnership between Yahoo and Google, and some analysts and investors have suggested that without that deal, Yahoo will be forced to either rekindle talks with Microsoft or a potential merger with AOL. Deep Blue Interactive, your interactive marketing source in Fort Lauderdale, Florida will continue to follow this story.

Online video began as a seemingly fuzzy bright idea with relatively little structure and direction. It seems to have found its path during the presidential election, with online video streams transforming from random assorted video clips to a one-stop destination for all things political. Online video seems to have become a portal for users to share ideas and content on the issues that matter the most to them.
Election news, bloopers, campaign speeches, interview clips of candidates, and more began to pop up in the form of YouTube clips and other online video sources. With online video, the propaganda and parodies have the capacity to be released much faster than the campaigns themselves-and the public could not get enough of it.
Since its conception in 2005, YouTube in particular has paved a unique path in the developing area of online video. There were and still are gray areas in respect to online video usage and potential, but through the 2008 presidential election, it has begun to realize its popularity and influence on the masses. The candidates have taken notice of online video as a tool as well, setting up accounts and taking advantage of the free exposure provided by other users tweaking their content into music videos and parodies.
Similar to what MTV had previously done to attract young viewers and entice them to vote, YouTube initially positioned themselves as a medium for candidates to connect with “the youth vote”. In reality, the candidates wound up reaching a profound amount of voters, across all demographics. It is also being discovered that contrary to popular misconception, viewers are willing to watch longer videos if the content is relevant and newsworthy.
Video is now an integral part of the online community, and users will continue discovering new ways to harness its potential. Contact Deep Blue Interactive-your Fort Lauderdale interactive marketing and web design solution, today for a free website analysis and consultation.

The attention spans of online video viewers are improving. Previously viewers were searching for and watching short clips online, and online content was generated based on those findings and habits. As time goes on and users become more technology savvy, they have begun to utilize the convenience of available network programming online to watch entire episodes on their computers-on their own schedule as well as other online video resources.
Enter Hulu, the NBC-Fox venture that is now one year old. From its onset, Hulu received ridicule and predictions of failure. Today Hulu is the sixth-largest video site on the World Wide Web-with an impressive 6.3 million users in September. Hulu and other online video providers are showing that users are becoming increasingly engaged in watching longer videos, from the Olympic Games to election coverage and everything in between.
In fact, the average length of a video on Blip.TV has increased from 3-5 minutes to 5-7 minutes over the period of one year. Video sites such as YouTube and others have been presenting a stream of related content to watch after a video ends, and have found it useful. This practice is similar to targeted advertising online and keeps viewers tuned in for longer increments of time.
The internet becomes more a part of our lives each day. Rather than having no option but to sit through an entire news broadcast to hear the segment you are interested in, or waiting through endless commercials to watch a program, people are turning to the internet for their entertainment and other needs. It is vital that your business has a compelling and searchable website in order to generate new clients.
