Targeting for Response

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

There are numerous powerful and specific keywords and key phrases utilized in internet marketing to increase traffic to a website. This issue lends itself to be criticized for drawing traffic for the sake of traffic-which does not necessarily translate to solid leads or sales.

Doesn’t it make more sense to target the right kind of traffic to your website? An experienced internet marketing firm will target the keywords and phrases that are most likely to produce the types of business prospects your company is looking for, rather than a few popular keywords that attract many users but few leads. You can look at your daily site traffic chart and be satisfied with increased website visits, or you can analyze your website logistics and discover the length of each visit, how they found your site, the number of actual leads received, and sales.

Progressive Enhancement

Monday, July 28th, 2008

Incorporating SEO in Flash websites is a common issue faced by search engine marketing companies and their clientele. It is commonly suggested that flash websites are simply not search engine friendly, and for that reason many assume search engine optimization for flash is impossible.  If Google is able to read parts of the flash content, it is impossible to optimize it and pursue high rankings.

An emerging idea is that of progressive enhancement.  Progressive enhancement is an often overlooked or ignored method of handling the issue of flash and SEO involving web development promoted by the latest web standards.  Progressive enhancement allows the user access to the website content using HTML tags.

The user also has the option to improve the look using CSS, then to introduce the Flash movie using Java-Script.  Here is where things work out for both parties-as search engines do not read Java-Script, the engines will skip the Flash file and index just the HTML content, and with the correct plug ins utilized, the search engines will detect the text within the flash file.

SEO vs PPC

Friday, July 25th, 2008

Search engine optimization or pay per click?  This is a decision that is pored over thoughtfully, questionably and often.  Pay per click, or PPC, certainly would appear to be the winner in the simplicity department if a company has the financial backing for such an endeavor.  Large corporations have taken over the PPC campaign scene, making it near impossible to simply pay and expect to out-rank the competition, making organic search engine optimization, or SEO, an increasingly resourceful alternative for those left on the back listings of the PPC movement.

Organic SEO is more time consuming, as the keywords and algorithms must be continuously tested for results, yet the results speak for themselves and are most often a more affordable method of bringing your business to the forefront of internet search engine visibility.  Hiring a skilled and experienced internet marketing firm to work for you is another readily available option.

A great way to cover both bases is to incorporate an amount of both SEO and PPC into your internet marketing business model to ensure you will grow through visibility and new business.
